Being Sick
By Thomas | February 8, 2008
This week I’ve been sick with a cold. It’s not the kind that keeps you in bed all day, but it definitely sucks and has taken its toll. On the workout front I was out of commission for a few days and I wasn’t able to take advantage of my as-of-yet unnamed secret weapon. My weight is still down, probably a result of a lessened appetite, but I much prefer being well.
Today I felt much better, good enough to workout and employ the above mentioned secret weapon. I hope I’ll be fully recovered in time to hit the mountains tomorrow.
Does anyone know of a good way to get a workout in when you are sick?

Do not work out when you are sick. Your body needs all of its resources to get you well and working out just weakens your immune system even further.

@Kenny: Thanks. When I was sick I felt weak and didn’t want to workout anyway, so I guess my body was sending the right messages.
I can’t believe some MMA fighters fight anyway if they get the flu a few days before their match.

Well, the ancient wisdom is that if you’re sick from your neck up, go ahead and work out. If you have a chest cold or stomach ache- skip it.
